Heritage Forests Campaign Day of Action
What You Can Do
Where to Write

Dear Friends of the Medicine Bow:

There are a lot of things happening right now, both locally and at the national level, that can impact the Medicine Bow National Forest. Several terrible logging projects will be needing strong citizen opposition very soon. And the ORV policy is out for public comment. We will be sending you alerts on these issues in the next couple of weeks.

At the national level, the Forest Service moratorium on road construction in roadless areas needs some real teeth. As it is now, roadless areas on the 'Bow won't be protected because of major loopholes. The Heritage Forests Campaign, a national effort we are part of, has set Thursday the 29th as a national day of action. One of the best ways you can positively impact the moratorium is by calling the Chief of the USFS on Thursday. For most of you getting this email, that is TODAY. Below is more info on the national day of action.

Thanks for caring about the Medicine Bow.

Sincerely,
Jeff Kessler

Thursday, April 29th is...
The Heritage Forests Campaign Day of Action

This is your best and easiest opportunity to make a positive difference in the fight to preserve America's forests. The Forest Service is at a turning point. Like with an enormous ship moving in the wrong direction, we need to turn the momentum of the Forest Service in the right direction now in order to avert disaster next year. A few minutes of your time on Thursday will make the difference.

Please help us in as many ways as possible:

FIRST (takes only 2 minutes): Call Chief Dombeck at (202)205-1661 and ask him to protect America's Heritage Forests by stopping ALL development in roadless areas, including logging and oil/gas development.

SECOND (3 minutes): Log onto www.ourforests.org and send an electronic post card to Chief Dombeck.

THIRD (4 minutes): Call or sent this message to two of your friends asking them to call or send an electronic postcard to Chief Dombeck.

America's Heritage Forests need you now.

If you have any questions, please call Deryck Spooner at 202-861-2242 or dspooner@audubon.org
