Speak out for Clean Water!

Hello Friends -

The Laramie County Conservation District and Laramie Rivers Conservation District will be holding two public meetings to discuss water quality issues in the Crow Creek watershed. It would be great (and also informative and very beneficial) if folks could attend one of these meetings. The meetings are as follows:

March 8, 2005 in Chyenne, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 at the Cheyenne Holiday Inn;

March 10, 2005 in Laramie, also from 7-9 at the Albany County Public Library.

Water pollution in Crow Creek is a significant problem in this region. In Cheyenne, Crow Creek has for several years now failed to meet water quality standards. In the last three years, Crow Creek has failed meet water quality standards in parts of the Medicine Bow National Forest. This pollution has been attributed to overgrazing and drought conditions.

The Conservation Districts are wanting to discuss the Crow Creek Watershed Plan, which is the District's attempt to address water quality concerns by involving all "stakeholders." You and I are both stakeholders and thus, we have a say in how the water pollution problem is fixed in the Crow Creek watershed through the Watershed Plan. These meetings will give us an opportunity to ensure our Conservation Districts (which do represent citizens of Albany and Laramie Counties) adopt a strong Watershed Plan that fully protects clean water, that quickly ends the pollution problem, and that ensures the health of the Crow Creek watershed. Please attend one of the meetings to speak out for your clean water!
