We are honored to invite you to participate in a statewide celebration: “Red Desert: Leave a Legacy Week.” Communities across the state are hosting FREE events and celebrations to commemorate the spirit of the Red Desert and to show support for the protection of its most prized places during the week of February 4th – 12th, 2006. Leave a Legacy events provide the opportunity for diverse groups of people to come together to celebrate the Red Desert. Leave a Legacy Week Events:

Rock Springs: RedDesert Dance
Come out and celebrate the Red Desert through dancing, eating good food, and listening to locals share stories about this magical place. Music will be provided by the classic rock band 4th Rock. And, don’t forget to wear RED.
Where: Santa Fe, Southwest Grill, 1635 Elk Street, Rock Springs
When: Saturday, February 4, 7-11 p.m.
Who: Co-sponsored by Friends of the Red Desert and the United Steel Workers of America Local 13214.

Jackson: RedDesert Party
Come discover the Red Desert and celebrate its many values.  Learn about the Red Desert’s history and culture, its wildlife and the challenges the area faces today from Jason Baldes (Eastern Shoshone), historian, Tom Bell, and others.  See desert photos, win great raffle prizes, and bring your kids to partake in a Red Desert art project.  And, don’t forget to wear RED. 
Where: Timberline Room at Snow King Resort
When: Sunday, February 5, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Laramie:RedDesertTown Hall Meeting
Come to a town-hall meeting with an all star panel consisting of Laramie Mayor Jodi Guerin, paleontologist Jason Lillegraven, Albany County Commission Chairman Tim Chestnut, University of Wyoming trustee and alumnus James Trosper, Friends of the Red Desert natural scientist Marian Doane, and Biodiversity Conservation Alliance wildlife biologist Erik Molvar.  And, don’t forget to wear RED.
Where: The Depot, 1st and Kearny in historic downtown Laramie.
When: Wednesday, February 8, 5-8 p.m. (Open house will be from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, the meeting from 7:00 – 8:00 PM, and a cocktail hour from 8:00 – 9:00 PM)

Wind River Indian Reservation: RedDesert March and Feast
The Red Desert's rich cultural history will be honored by the people of the Wind River Indian Reservation.  Come march in support of protecting the Red Desert and then join in a feast with guest speakers. And, don’t forget to wear RED.
Where:  Meet at Blue Sky Hall and Rock Hall to walk to Chief Washakie Plunge, 10 a.m.  Feast at Hot Springs, noon.
When: Saturday, Feb. 11, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (Weather permitting)
Who: Cosponsored by Friends of the Red Desert, the Eastern Shoshone Business Council and the Northern Arapaho Business Council.

Lander: RedDesert Kids’ Carnival
Come bring the family to a Red Desert themed carnival. Games include a ring toss around the Boars Tusk, carving petroglyphs, painting t-shirts and roping. Plus you can dance to Lander’s local bluegrass band – The Johnsons. See photos of the desert, win great raffle prizes, and, don’t forget to wear RED.

When: February 12, 2-5 p.m.
