Contact Information
LARAMIE – Biodiversity Conservation Alliance’s Third Annual Red Desert Photo Show and Contest will debut with a reception at Coal Creek Coffee in Downtown Laramie on Friday, October 6th from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. The event will coincide with the downtown Gallery Walk, and judging will occur approximately 5:00 p.m. The photos will be on display through Saturday.
The contest will feature the work of photographers from Wyoming and the surrounding region. Photos will be grouped into Professional and Amateur Divisions, and into the “Flora and Fauna” and “Landscapes” categories. Entries will be judged by Mike Stoesz of Rainbow Photography.
Art entered in the contest will be for sale, with sale proceeds split between the artist and BCA’s Red Desert protection campaign.
“With all the attention on protecting Adobe Town and the possibility of National Conservation Area designation for parts of the Red Desert, and the 15,000 wells that the BLM is currently considering in the Red Desert, this show offers a great chance for folks to come out and take a look at some of the this area’s most spectacular landscapes through the eyes of some of the region’s most talented photographers,” said Erik Molvar, wildlife biologist with Biodiversity Conservation Alliance. “These photos really tell the tale that the Red Desert’s biggest value over the long run may be in wildlife and scenery, rather than oil and gas.”
