LARAMIE –Biodiversity Conservation Alliance today announced an invitation for submissions of photography for the 6th Annual Red Desert Photo Show. The show will open on Sunday, November 15th at The Grounds Internet Café in Laramie. Photographers should submit their work at Biodiversity Conservation Alliance’s office in Laramie no later than November 6th. 

The photographs should depict subjects in Wyoming’s Red Desert and will be entered in either the Landscape category or the Wildlife and Wildflowers category. Photographs will also be entered in the Professional Division for photographers who have previously sold their work or in the Amateur division for those who have not. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place in each division and category at a reception on Saturday, November 21st.

“The Red Desert Photo Show offers photographers an opportunity to showcase the spectacular beauty and abundant wildlife of the Red Desert, and offers the public a window into these remote landscapes,” remarked Erik Molvar, wildlife biologist with Biodiversity Conservation Alliance. “Photographers should have about a month of nice autumn weather left to get out into the Red Desert and shoot if they want to supplement the current stock of images.”

The show has a history of attracting images from talented professional and amateur photographers from throughout the region. Submitted photographs should be framed and ready for hanging, with matting recommended. A fee of $5 per entry will be waived for photographers younger than 18 years of age.

Photographs can be offered for sale to the public during the photo contest and show. Sale proceeds will be split between the photographer the Biodiversity Conservation Alliance’s Red Desert conservation campaign.
