5th Annual Red Desert Photo Show Opens this Sunday

LARAMIE – Biodiversity Conservation Alliance’s Fifth Annual Red Desert Photo Show and Contest will debut at the Grounds Internet and Coffee Lounge at 171 North 3rd Street in Laramie on Sunday, September 21st. The opening will be held from noon to 7:00 pm., and judging will occur Sunday evening. The photos will be on display at Grounds through the following Friday.

“This year is the biggest Red Desert Photo Show yet, with entries from talented artists from Wyoming and around the region,” said Erik Molvar, wildlife biologist with Biodiversity Conservation Alliance. “There will be dozens of great photos on display.”

The contest will feature the work of photographers from Wyoming and the surrounding region. Photos will be grouped into Professional and Amateur Divisions, and into the “Flora and Fauna” and “Landscapes” categories. Entries will be judged by Mike Stoesz of Rainbow Photography.

Art entered in the contest will be for sale, with sale proceeds split between the artist and BCA’s Red Desert protection campaign.

“Most people drive through the Red Desert on Interstate 80 and never get to see the spectacular landscapes and abundant wildlife of the backcountry,” said Molvar. “The photo show gives people a chance to see the beauty and grandeur of one of the West’s last great open spaces, and offers an opportunity to pick up unique Wyoming gifts for their friends and relatives while supporting the conservation of this special landscape.”
