Come explore unprotected Wyoming wildlands. On each trip, we will discuss wildlife,
rare plants, and other interesting features. We will also let hikers know how they can
get involved to help protect these special places. Earlier registration is recommended,
as trips fill fast. One must register for each trip confirming your participation by
contacting the trip leader. All hikes are free and open to the public unless otherwise
noted.

Fortification Creek/Powder River Breaks WSA, BLM near Arvada in N.E. Wyoming
The Bureau of Land Management will lead an exhilarating day hike with car shuttle, and carpooling in high clearance vehicles. Explore this seldom-visited prairie ecosystem, home to rare herd of prairie elk and other wildlife. This area is at risk to coalbed methane development. This pristine Powder River bluff country needs your support. The Citizen's BLM Wilderness Proposal recommends 24,000 acres for protection. Red Desert Goat packing Trip, BLM, north of Rock Springs
Trek through the majestic Red Desert. This four-day trip in the Honeycomb Buttes Wilderness Study Area offers breathtaking scenery, remoteness and abundant wildlife. Join Wind River Pack Goats owner Charlie Wilson, and Mac Blewer of Wyoming Outdoor Council for a trip into the wild heart of the west. Walker Prairie Roadless Area Pack-Goat Picnic & Day Hike, Bighorn NF near Sheridan
Walker Prairie is the cleft between Paleozoic limestones and sandstones and the Precambrian granite that formed the Big Horn range. The prairie is an open, alpine meadow bounded by conifer forest on both sides, featuring aspen groves, wildflowers and ancient Native American campsites. We will meet on top and walk in. moderately strenuous. Bring your sack lunch, water, hiking boots and rain gear. Goats will carry lunches! Limited to 12 people. Vedauwoo Day hike (camp over optional) Medicine Bow NF, between Cheyenne and Laramie on I-80
Take a hike through one of the most visited recreational areas - Vedauwoo -- in the Pole Mtn. Area Hike around Turtle Rock and the Nautilus area. See first hand the beauty and natural values that are nationally and internationally recognized, such as the remarkable geological formations of foliated granite. This area needs help to stop the heavy use of motorized vehicles currently threatening its beauty. Light hike and ATV damage tour, families welcome. Rock Creek Roadless Area, Bighorn NF near Buffalo
Hike with retired wildlife biologist, Roger Wilson, up the spectacular South Fork of Rock Creek Canyon up into this wild Bighorn roadless area. Renown area for its rock spires and formations, and important habitat for elk, deer and mountain lions, this area is a high priority for wilderness protection with its ecosystem stretching from the prairie to the peaks. Coon Creek in the Medicine Bow National Forest S.W. of Laramie on the CO/WY border
Take a fun yet easy 10-mile trek through a rare old growth forest on the Sierra Madre Range. This beautiful area is currently being threatened by a proposed timber sale, and badly needs your support. Take a hike up the North Fork of Rock Creek in the Medicine Bow Mountains. This is an easy mountain hike, approximately 8 miles long, and traveling mostly through open meadows. Here you'll get to visit beautiful sites such as Grassy Lake. Lake Mountain, Bridger-Teton NF near Kemmerer in S.W. WY
Come backpack and camp in the Bridger Teton National Forest's southern portion of the Wyoming Range. Lake Mountain is a scenic masterpiece renowned for its large elk herd as well as many other wildlife species. Located in the Commissary Ridge Roadless area, Lake Mtn. is need of your support. Middle Fork of the Little Laramie River, Medicine Bow NF, west of Laramie
A moderate yet fun-filled day hike which is approximately 8 miles round trip into the Little Laramie/Middle Fork Roadless Area. The hike follows a long abandoned goldmine route on gently rolling terrain; late 1800's era mine works are at the end. Wild River Clarks Fork Rendezvous, Shoshone NF near Cody
Meet up with the Wyoming Chapter to explore and restore the Clarks Fork River Canyon. This overnight Rendezvous will feature car camping, day hikes/tours, talks, and possible restoration of an area where the motorized groups have literally taken over our public lands in mouth of Wyoming's only designated Wild and Scenic River corridor. Littlehorn Canyon, Bighorn NF near Sheridan
This day hike will include a tour of Leaky Mountain via Little Bighorn Trail. Approximately 14 miles round trip. Trail follows Little Bighorn River, beginning in a narrow canyon, proceeding through woods, meadows and rock outcrops, then opening up into a wide valley with limestone cliffs on both sides.
