BCA Seeks Protection for Boreal Toad
On May 25th BCA, the Center for Biological Diversity, and Center for Native Ecosystems petitioned the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to protect boreal toads under the Endangered Species Act. The unique population of boreal toads native to the southern Rocky Mountains, Utah, southern Idaho and northeastern Nevada is in steep decline due to disease and habitat destruction. The boreal toad is the region's only high elevation, forest-dwelling toad.

The boreal toad is an important indicator of the environmental health of our mountain streams and wetlands. Streamsides and wetlands are among the most biologically important habitats on our forests, and strengthening protections for boreal toads will have far-reaching benefits for a vast array of forest wildlife, from songbirds to cutthroat trout.
The Fish and Wildlife Service must determine whether the petition has merit within 90 days and make a final finding on toad protection within a year. Please follow our monthly Bio-Broadcasts for updates on the fate of this imperiled toad.

Update on New Office at 412 S. 2nd Street
Our move-in goal is June 24th.
Offices
Office walls are framed and partially drywalled. Electrical work is in progress. The phone and data jacks will be installed soon.
Main Area
The property owner is having new thermal storefront windows installed this month, which will lower heat costs and help keep the office cooler in the summer. Most of the walls are primed and ready for the top coat. Carpet will be installed after painting and remodeling is complete.
As with most remodeling, unexpected problems arise which can be costly and time consuming. Please contact Jennifer at (307)742-7978 or email at Jennifer@voiceforthewild.org to donate funds, office items, or your time.
A big THANKS to everyone who has helped thus far.
Thanks for using your voice for the wild!
