Victory for Air-Breathers near Laramie!

After 2.5 days of trial, BCA, the Sierra Club and Mountain Cement have settled out of court over the Clean Air Act! Mountain Cement has agreed to install emmission control facilities and also to provide funds to clean up the plant, as well as covering litigation costs incurred by this citizen's suit. This underscores the importance of citizens' rights to uphold the Clean Air Act. BCA staffer Jeremy Nichols stated, "We have the responsibility to work to protect clean air in our community, and that's what we've done." Mountain Cement was ranked by Environmental Defense's pollution scorecard as one of the dirtiest facilities in the nation for carcinogens released, and thanks to BCA and the Sierra Club, it is well on its way to cleaning up its act and our air! This is a big victory for BCA and citizens of Laramie.
