Information on Proposed Coal Mine and Coal Gasification Facility Coal Gasification...Coal to Liquids... Syngas Liquefaction...Synthetic Fuel... What are these things? If you're not quite sure and would like to know more, join us to learn more about what these terms mean and how the processes work. Biodiversity Conservation Alliance announces an important meeting hosted by the Medicine Bow Group of the Sierra Club Friday, May 15 Medicine Bow Fuel & Power LLC, a subsidiary of DRKW, has proposed construction and operation of a coal mine and coal to liquids processing facility, about halfway between Elk Mountain and Medicine Bow, Wyoming. The proposed coal mine and processing plant pose a variety of potentially significant impacts to Laramie and surrounding areas, yet many people in Laramie know relatively little about the proposal, or how the coal to liquid process even works. Jason Marsden, Executive Director of Wyoming Conservation Voters, will provide an overview of the history, science, and environmental impacts of coal-conversion technology. The Medicine Bow Group of the Sierra Club is hosting this public meeting so interested citizens can learn more about the coal to liquids technology, and Medicine Bow Fuel & Power's proposal specifically. Also, join us for an outing on Sunday to visit the area where the "proposed" coal mine and processing facility would be located. Sunday, May 17 We'll travel together to the proposed project site, accompanied by folks who have expertise in a variety of areas (hydrology, geology, wildlife, plants).
