LARAMIE – A Town Hall Meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 8th to focus on Red Desert conservation and development issues. The public is invited to attend and share in a spirited dialogue on the future of these landscapes. The public meeting will be held at The Depot, 1st and Kearney, in Laramie.  The event is part of a state-wide “Leave a Legacy” celebration to commemorate the spirit of the Red Desert and to call attention to its most prized places which are now threatened by oil and gas development.

The meeting will feature short presentations from an expert panel on the special values of important Red Desert landscapes.  The panel will consist of Laramie Mayor Jodi Guerin, Paleontologist Jason Lillegraven, Albany County Commission Chairman Tim Chestnut, University of Wyoming Trustee and Alumnus James Trosper, Friends of the Red Desert Naturalist Marian Doane, and Biodiversity Conservation Alliance Wildlife Biologist Erik Molvar.  The panel will field questions and public comments, and facilitate a discussion on options for protection for the Red Desert’s special places.

The event will begin with an open house from 6 to 7 p.m., the Town Meeting from 7 to 8 p.m., and a wine and cheese reception from 8 to 9 p.m.  Biodiversity Conservation Alliance and Friends of the Red Desert would like to encourage anyone who cares about the future of the Red Desert to join us for this special evening..
