LARAMIE - Biodiversity Conservation Alliance has just announced its schedule of Red Desert outings. These hikes will be led by BCA staff and are free and open to the public. If you would like to register (space is limited) or would like carpool, rendezvous, or camping information, please RSVP Eric Bonds at (307)742-7978 or maggie@voiceforthewild.org. May 10th-11th, meeting at 10 am Weather permitting: wet weather makes the roads in this area impassable, so a major rain or snowfall will cancel this trip. Bring: Camping gear, hiking clothes, sunglasses, camera, water and food for 2 days; 4WD vehicle required, high clearance recommended. Meeting place: We will meet at the Bitter Creek railroad siding. Take I-80 east from Rock Springs or west from Wamsutter to the Bitter Creek exit 142. Drive south on the Bitter Creek Road for 7 miles to the railway siding on the north side of the tracks. Meeting place: We will meet at the Bar-X Road exit on I-80, between Wamsutter and Point of Rocks. Trip Leader: Jeremy Nichols, who conducted the Wilderness Inventory for this unit. Meeting place: We will meet at the Flying J gas station on the westernmost I-80 exit in Rawlins. Trip Leader: Erik Molvar, author of Wild Wyoming. Trip Limit: 15 people. May 31st-June 1st, meeting at 10 am Weather permitting: wet weather makes the roads in this area impassable, so a major rain or snowfall will postpone or cancel this trip. Bring: Backpacking gear (including tent, water filter, backpack, and sleeping bag/pad), hiking clothes, sunglasses, camera, water and food for 2 days. Meeting place: We will meet at the Baggs Road (Wyoming 789) exit on I-80, about 30 miles west of Rawlins. Trip leader: Erik Molvar, author of Wild Wyoming. Trip limit: 10 people
