NEWS TELECONFERENCE ADVISORY
Next steps to be discussed regarding Wyoming’s Atlantic Rim coalbed methane drilling and its impacts on lands and wildlife
What: A news teleconference will be held to discuss actions being taken tomorrow in Washington, D.C. to prevent unnecessary impacts to lands and wildlife in the Jonah Field, pursuant to the recently released Decision on the Atlantic Rim coalbed methane project. This project permits the drilling of 2,000 wells and the blading of 1,000 miles of roads across a quarter million acres in the eastern Red Desert. The full build-out has been modeled; for a preview of the magnitude of drilling as well as current coalbed methane drilling activities along the Atlantic Rim, visit www.voiceforthewild.org/atlanticrimsimulation/. These lands represent some of Wyoming’s most important wildlife habitat, with one of the state’s two largest sage grouse breeding concentration areas as well as important migration corridors and winter ranges for elk, mule deer, and pronghorn.
